The Business of Business - Two Daughters & Their Dad
What do an insurance agent/nonprofit volunteer, a salon owner, and a financial advisor have in common? Well, they are all part of an entrepreneurial family that wants to help others turn their passion into business. The Business of Business podcast was created by an entrepreneurial family Staci, Jennifer & Jack Dempsey, just two daughters and their dad. Each week the focus is on the Business of Business. No matter what business you are in, or want to be in, the business of business is the same. Listen in for tips, tricks, and strategies for turning your passion into your business. 3-17: To Give or Not To Give
Welcome to The Business of Business: Two Daughters & Their Dad where we talk about all things entrepreneurial.
It’s just the Two Daughters today since The Dad is a bit under the weather. Don’t worry, Jack will be back in our next episode.
Jennifer and Staci talk about the importance of your business planning on how to give back - in terms of hours, products, and cold, hard cash.
They highlight the benefits and differences of giving time, gift cards, cash, sponsorships, and organizing events for your staff and customers and then how each provides something different for your businesses.
Nuggets for fellow entrepreneurs include:
- You must have buy-in from your staff; they need to know the importance of the event and the cause
- Annual events create buy-in from your customers
- Donate because of the impact on others, not because of the deduction
- If you can’t give money then think about how you can give time or talent
- It’s OK to say no; have a focus
- Always, always, always communicate with your staff
